The Department of Energy (DOE) is moving to standardize local government unit (LGU) permitting for energy projects as part of a national effort to accelerate development as it met with the provincial government of Agusan del Norte last week.
DOE Undersecretary Mylene Capongcol lauded Agusan del Norte for its strategic pursuit of long-term energy security, citing the province’s P457.97-million energy development plan supported by proven integrated water-energy solutions.
The meeting, which included Governor Angelica Amante and Vice Governor Enrico Corvera, is aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to accelerate energy development across the country, the DOE said.
Capongcol said the standardized ordinance template is designed to strengthen LGU participation in energy planning and to facilitate the timely implementation of energy projects. She said that Agusan del Norte’s proactive stance and strong leadership make it an ideal partner for advancing national and local energy goals.
“Agusan del Norte’s commitment to achieving energy security through innovative, indigenous renewable solutions sets a strong example for the country,” Capongcol said.
