BingoPlus Foundation, the social development arm of DigiPlus Interactive Corp. announced a total donation of P17.2 million to support Philippine sports and cultural heritage following the country’s inaugural hosting of the International Series Philippines (ISP) golf tournament.
The event, presented by DigiPlus’s flagship brand BingoPlus, was held last month and established the country as a premier global sports destination, according to DigiPlus.
Beyond showcasing world-class golf, the tournament served as a platform for the BingoPlus Foundation’s commitment to sports development and nation-building.
The foundation turned over P17.2 million in donations to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the National Golf Association of the Philippines (NGAP), the Asian Development Tour (ADT) and the Sisidlan Rizal Weavers.
A donation of P8 million was given to the PSC to reinforce the foundation’s long-term commitment to strengthening the country’s athletic programs and empowering Filipino athletes.
“The true winners here are our Filipino athletes and our youth,” said PSC commissioner Fritz Gaston.
He said the funds would be utilized to support training and practice for aspiring young individuals starting from the grassroots level, shaping the next generation of national athletes.
To grow golf locally, the foundation committed $50,000 to the National Golf Association of the Philippines and $100,000 to the Asian Development Tour. The partnership with the ADT, which introduced its series to the Philippines for the first time, guarantees a Filipino golfer a coveted slot in the prestigious International Series, providing critical opportunities for emerging talents.
“By investing in this tournament, we’re not just funding a competition, we’re helping shape future champions,” said BingoPlus president Jasper Vicencio.
DigiPlus chairman Eusebio Tanco expressed pride in the achievement. “DigiPlus is proud to have championed the inaugural International Series Philippines. This prestigious event is an affirmation that we created a new milestone for our country as a premier world-class sports destination,” Tanco said.
He said the tournament was crucial because it gave the BingoPlus Foundation the opportunity to support and empower the sports community.
The foundation’s inclusive development efforts also extended to cultural heritage. Alongside BingoPlus and GameZone, the BingoPlus Foundation donated P500,000 to the Sisidlan Rizal Weavers to help local artisans maintain their business and advocacy.
The group gained recognition when their work was showcased during the golf tournament’s Welcome Gala and the LIV Golf Music Fest.
Sisidlan Weavers founder Sharonette Roquios extended her gratitude for the P500,000 donation. “This amount will be directly utilized to strengthen our business advocacy which is to create more sustainable jobs for our women. I believe that every fiber we weave builds stronger families and brighter futures,” Roquios said.
BingoPlus Foundation executive-director Angela Camins-Wieneke highlighted the broader community impact.
“Events like this bring energy to the community from tourism and local jobs to inspiring the next generation of athletes,” Wieneke said, adding that the foundation would continue creating avenues where every Filipino could play compete and thrive.
