Issa Pressman said she personally reached out to Nadine Lustre before going public with her relationship with James Reid, calling it an important step out of respect for the actor’s former partner.
In an interview with broadcast journalist Karen Davila, Issa recalled making the effort to speak to Nadine first, even before confirming her relationship with James publicly.
“I told her, I was like, ‘We started dating and I really wanna see where this is gonna go,’” she said.
She shared that Nadine responded kindly and wished them well.
“‘Good morning. To be honest, that’s been a lifetime ago. I appreciate you telling me. I wish you guys the best of luck,’” Issa quoted Nadine as saying.
With that conversation giving them clarity, Issa and James eventually decided to make their relationship public.
Issa said she and James had been close for years before they became a couple, and that their relationship deepened while she was signed under the latter’s music label, Careless.
“When I met the biggest love that came into my life, came the biggest challenge,” she said.
The couple confirmed their romance in 2023 and have since appeared publicly together.
