Vice President Sara Duterte on Friday emphasized her office’s commitment to delivering prompt help to those in need during her keynote address for the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
“We mourn with those who have lost loved ones and pray for strength and recovery for all those whose homes and livelihoods have been affected,” Duterte said, honoring families affected by recent calamities.
“Our dedication to providing immediate assistance is evident in the tireless efforts of our disaster response teams, who spring into action following each typhoon, earthquake, and other emergencies. These courageous individuals deserve our recognition,” she added.
The Vice President noted that despite limited resources, the OVP remains committed to sustaining its front-line operations.
She likewise paid tribute to the employees, staff, and frontliners from central and state line offices, whom she described as the “embodiment of responsive governance.”
As part of its 90th anniversary celebration, the OVP launched a coffee table book titled “First in Line,” which showcases the legacies of former vice presidents.
Duterte acknowledged former vice presidents and their families, emphasizing that the office has been built upon their “sacrifice, wisdom, and dedication.”
“Through these pages, we pay tribute to those who have come before us, whose dedication and service have shaped the nation’s history,” OVP Chief of Staff lawyer Zuleika Lopez said.
The event was attended by former presidents Joseph Ejercito-Estrada and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, as well as the surviving families of former vice presidents Carlos Garcia, Fernando Lopez, Emmanuel Pelaez, Teofisto Guingona, and Noli de Castro.
The OVP is also set to launch its Pop-Up Exhibit nationwide, further celebrating the legacies and valuable contributions of former vice presidents.
