Manulife is rolling out a new health initiative in the Philippines that gives customers access to personalized gut microbiome screening, made possible through its partnership with AMILI, Southeast Asia’s first microbiome insights company.
The launch comes at a time when Filipinos are increasingly concerned about rising healthcare costs. According to the 2025 Asia Care Survey, 82 percent of Filipinos cite healthcare expenses as their biggest worry, with many unsure about sustaining both their physical and financial well-being.
The AMILI screening aims to ease these concerns by offering science-based, preventive care that can support better long-term health outcomes and help reduce future medical costs.
“At Manulife Philippines, we are focused on delivering innovative solutions that support the evolving health needs of Filipinos. This collaboration with AMILI allows us to provide a unique health experience beyond traditional insurance, empowering customers to take a more proactive role in their well-being,” Manulife Philippines president and CEO Rahul Hora.
Through the program, Manulife customers will be able to undergo gut microbiome testing designed specifically for Asian populations, with personalized nutrition guidance and teleconsultation included to help interpret results. The service is positioned to help improve immunity, brain and heart health, as well as overall longevity.
“Our goal is to be a true partner in our customers’ health journey—not just by helping them prepare financially, but by giving them access to tools and services that support prevention, care, and overall well-being,” said Manulife Philippines. health and product officer Grace Mallabo.
AMILI’s screening draws on the region’s largest multi-ethnic gut microbiome database, generating insights linked to digestive health, immunity, mental wellness, and chronic disease prevention, said AMILI co-founder and CEO Jeremy Lim.
