Royal Canin, a global pet health nutrition brand, receently launched Welcome Home, Rocky & Charlie!, a children’s storybook aimed at teaching families empathy, understanding, and responsible pet ownership.
The storybook is part of Royal Canin’s advocacy to equip pet owners with knowledge and resources to help ensure their pets live healthier and happier lives. The company said responsible pet ownership begins with education, especially among children who often seek companionship from animals.
“Responsible pet ownership is about more than just meeting basic needs,” said Ann Madelene Garcia, pet specialty retail head at Royal Canin Philippines. “It’s about recognizing the unique personalities of our pets, providing the right nutrition, and creating an environment where they feel safe and loved.”
Developed with veterinarians, educators, and pet care experts, the storybook is designed as both an engaging read for children and a learning tool for families. It introduces practical lessons on pet nutrition, health checkups, socialization, and maintaining a safe home environment.
Gerard Poa, Market Head of Royal Canin Philippines, said the initiative aims to inspire empathy and lifelong habits among young readers. “Our responsibility as a community is to ensure every pet is cared for with love and respect,” he said.
The company is extending the project through school tours in partnership with Communitails, a nonprofit that promotes animal-assisted interventions. The tours will feature storytelling sessions designed to teach children the importance of compassion and proper pet care.
The launch event at Ayala Museum brought together families for a day of storytelling, activities, and discussions on responsible ownership.
Royal Canin, which has more than 55 years of expertise in pet health nutrition, continues to promote science-based education through initiatives such as the Royal Canin Club, which offers expert advice, educational materials, and rewards for pet owners.
