Up-and-coming singer Kavi pours his heart into debut single ‘Ulan’
As a young singer and songwriter, Kavi draws inspiration from the people around him, as well as from his own experiences. Listening to other people’s stories allows him to broaden his perspective on life and relationships, which are the central themes in his music.
The same is true for his debut single, released on Friday, Nov. 7. Speaking with Manila Standard Entertainment ahead of the official launch, Kavi shared that the song was inspired by his current romantic relationship and was refined by his general observation of LDR (long-distance relationship) couples.
“Our experiences shape us as artists,” he said. “And this song is really close to my heart.”

Produced by the talented Shadiel Chan, who also helmed Cup of Joe’s chart-topping hit “Multo,” the heartfelt single, according to Kavi, resonates with anyone who has ever felt the pull of separation anxiety across miles.
“It’s an OPM pop track, mellow but catchy, with a heartfelt vibe,” Kavi said of the song’s sound. He admitted feeling both excited and nervous for its release. “Sobrang surreal at nakakakaba in a good way. Masaya dahil maririnig na siya ng iba.”
According to the young artist, the single is a tender exploration of longing in a long-distance relationship.

“It tackles the deep ache of wanting nothing more than to bridge the gap and hold the one you love close,” Kavi related. “It’s as if you have separation anxiety. Gusto mo na makasama ‘yung mahal mo.”
The debut single holds extra meaning for Kavi, having been recorded at the renowned Open Heaven Recording Studio in the misty hills of Baguio.
“Nakailang takes ako ng chorus niyan sa recording,” he said, recalling the multiple run-throughs needed to capture its raw emotion.
