SSS offers calamity loans to Cebu members after Typhoon Tino

The Social Security System (SSS) is offering a Calamity Loan Program (CLP) to members in Cebu affected by Typhoon Tino, providing immediate financial relief as recovery efforts continue across the province.

The SSS announced that members in the province may avail of the CLP starting Nov. 6, 2025 up to Dec. 5, 2025.

SSS president and chief executive Robert Joseph Montes de Claro said the CLP offers qualified members immediate access to emergency funds for essential needs, complementing national and local government recovery efforts.

“We understand how life-changing the devastation brought by Typhoon Tino is to workers and their families in Cebu. Our priority is to provide immediate, accessible support to help them get back on their feet,” de Claro said.

All 53 cities and municipalities in Cebu were placed under a state of calamity by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) after Tropical Cyclone Tino struck the province on Nov. 4, 2025.

NDRRMC estimates indicate more than 200,000 families and 700,000 individuals were affected, with more than 200,000 pre-emptively evacuated and over 400,000 displaced.

Under the CLP, qualified members can borrow up to P20,000 at a 7-percent interest rate, with a repayment period of 24 months.

Applications should be submitted online via the My.SSS facility, and loan proceeds will be credited directly to the member’s enrolled disbursement account once approved.

Major qualification requirements include residing or working in an area declared under a state of calamity and having at least 36 monthly contributions, with six posted within 12 months preceding the month of filing. Individually paying members must have paid at least six contributions under their current membership type. Applicants must have an online My.SSS account, have no past due loan accounts or outstanding restructured loans, not have been granted any final benefit, be of legal age and under 65 years of age at the time of application, and have not been disqualified due to fraud against the SSS.

The SSS has also activated a separate CLP for members affected by Tropical Storm Ramil in Roxas City and in the municipality of Sigma in Capiz. Qualified SSS members who live or work in these areas may apply for a calamity loan from Nov. 5, 2025 to Dec. 4, 2025.
