OPM rock band IV of Spades has officially returned with the release of its sophomore album “Andalucia,” marking the group’s first full-length project since going on hiatus in 2020.
In a post on Wednesday, Nov. 5, the band reflected on their journey and renewed partnership.
“Masaya kami na mapakinggan niyo ’tong first album naming apat. Pangarap lang namin ’to dati. Marami mang nangyari noon na hindi maganda, grateful pa rin na napunta kami dito. Hetong album na ’to ang magsisilbing reminder sa’min na may hope pala sa lahat ng mga bagay-bagay,” the post read.
The comeback also reunites vocalist Unique Salonga with bandmates Zild Benitez, Blaster Silonga, and Badjao de Castro, five years after his departure to pursue a solo career.
IV of Spades first rose to mainstream recognition in 2018 with hits such as “Ilaw sa Daan,” “Hey Barbara,” and “Mundo.” After Unique’s departure later that year, the remaining three members released their debut album “ClapClapClap!” in 2019 before announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2020.
The band surprised fans in July with the release of “Aura,” followed by “Nanaman,” “Konsensya,” and “Suliranin,” leading to the arrival of “Andalucia,” a 15-track record that showcases the group’s growth and a more reflective, poetic musical direction.
