Aboitiz Group delivers relief to Visayas typhoon, quake victims

The Aboitiz Group, through the Aboitiz Foundation and its business units, has mobilized relief and recovery operations for over 12,500 families in the Visayas affected by Typhoon Tino and a recent magnitude 6.9 earthquake.

The coordinated effort, operating under the ‘OneAboitiz’ initiative, has distributed assistance valued at over P3 million across affected communities in Cebu, Bohol, Negros Occidental, Iloilo and Dinagat Islands.

Relief distributions, which began on Nov. 5 and are continuing this week, include more than 7,200 food packs and non-food items, as well as 158,000 liters of water.

Local government units and Aboitiz business units, including Aboitiz InfraCapital Water, Visayan Electric, AboitizPower Transition Business Group, Aboitiz Renewables Inc., Aboitiz Land, Aboitiz Economic Estates (Cebu), Aboitiz Foods and Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz, teamed up in the effort.

Aboitiz Foundation chairman Sabin Aboitiz emphasized the spirit of collective action.

“Our collective action shows what OneAboitiz is all about — standing together for our people and our communities,” he said.

“These floods remind us that while we can’t control nature, we can control how we respond — with compassion, courage and care,” said Aboitiz.

The assistance builds on the foundation’s prior commitment to families still recovering from the September magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu.

Relief efforts are focusing on areas such as Cebu City, Mandaue, Liloan, Toledo, Talisay and Balamban. Aboitiz InfraCapital Water provided potable water, while AboitizPower distribution utilities—including Visayan Electric, Davao Light, and Cotabato Light teams—are actively restoring power lines.

Aboitiz Foundation president Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar cited the long-term goal of the efforts.

“This is part of our long-term commitment to help communities not only recover but also become more resilient,” Hontiveros-Malvar said.

“Our recent earthquake response and now the typhoon efforts show that we stand by our partners through every crisis — together as OneAboitiz,” she said.

The Aboitiz Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the Aboitiz Group, is continuing to coordinate with local government units and partners to ensure timely aid delivery and recovery support in the coming weeks.

The foundation, which has more than 35 years of experience, focuses on three pillars for social development: future leaders, jobs and climate action.
