The Philippines’ agriculture and fisheries sector recorded a 2.8 percent year-on-year increase in the value of production in the third quarter of 2025 on strong performances in the crop and poultry subsectors, according to data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Thursday.
The total value of production for the sector, measured at constant 2018 prices, reached P408.94 billion for the July-to-September period. However, the overall growth was tempered by contractions in the value of livestock and fisheries production.

Data showed that the poultry subsector posted the highest growth rate, expanding by 10.6 percent to P75.96 billion. Poultry contributed 18.6 percent to the total value, with chicken and chicken eggs production registering year-on-year value growth of 12.4 percent and 7.7 percent, respectively.
The volume of poultry production rose by 10.7 percent to 785,100 metric tons, led by the 12.4-percent annual increase in chicken production.
The crop subsector, the largest contributor at 53.3 percent of the total value, grew by 3.0 percent, reaching P218 billion. The main driver was palay (unmilled rice) production, which surged by 12.6 percent in value and volume, while corn registered a decline of 2.9 percent in value. The volume of crop production was estimated at 15.25 million metric tons, an increase of 1.5 percent.
Meanwhile, the livestock subsector, which shared 14.8 percent of the total value, contracted by 1.9 percent to P60.51 billion. Hog production, the major livestock commodity, declined by 1.4 percent in value, causing the total production volume for the subsector to fall by 1.6 percent to 514,390 metric tons.
The fisheries subsector also saw a decline of 2.7 percent in value to P54.47 billion, accounting for 13.3 percent of the total production value. The volume of fisheries production was posted at 894,320 metric tons, a steeper drop of 7.5 percent compared to the same period in 2024. The volume decline was mainly attributed to the 15.7-percent annual decrease in seaweed production.
