Fifteen of the Philippines’ most promising innovators, ranging from artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR) training to sustainable agricultural and waste management solutions, will compete in the final round of the Presidential Filipinnovation Awards 2025 from November 3 to 7, 2025.
The finalists—12 winners from sub-national rounds and three wildcard entries—were introduced at a press conference Monday to kick off the final competition, the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) announced. DEPDev serves as the Secretariat of the National Innovation Council (NIC), which organizes the awards.
Five of the fifteen finalists will be named Filipinnovator Awardees of the Year by the NIC on Nov. 6, 2025. Each awardee will receive a prize package that includes a cash grant and a post-competition support package worth up to P3.5 million, a presidential medallion, plaque and trophy.
The support package also includes mentoring, coaching, participation in international events, and opportunities to connect with potential investors.
“The Presidential Filipinnovation Awards is a flagship initiative of the government to build a dynamic and inclusive innovation ecosystem, and encourage collaboration, creativity, and the commercialization of homegrown innovations that drive national development,” said DEPDev Secretary and NIC vice-chair Arsenio Balisacan.
The finalists will first undergo a two-day mentoring and coaching workshop focused on business modeling, innovation validation and presentation skills. On Wednesday, they will present their innovations to the National Board of Judges for evaluation based on sustainability, scalability, marketability, potential impact, relevance, and overall innovativeness.
