Rizal Green Energy connects 40-MW solar project to grid

Rizal Green Energy Corp. (RGEC), the power generation arm of the Yuchengco group, said Tuesday it connected its 40-megawatt (MW) Limbauan Solar Power Project (LSPP) in Isabela to the national grid.

The facility, developed by RGEC operating unit BKS Green Energy Corp. (BKSGEC), consists of a 6-MW Phase 1 connected to the Isabela Electric Cooperative’s (ISELCO) distribution system and a 34-MW Phase 1 directly connected to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ (NGCP) 69-kilovolt (kV) Tuguegarao-Cabangan transmission line.

BKSGEC and contractor Harmonics System Inc. connected Phase 2 to NGCP’s 69 kV transmission line through the facility’s switching station, simultaneously tapping Phase 1 to ISELCO’s 13.8 kV line at its Cabangan substation, following NGCP’s provisional approval to connect on Oct. 24, 2025.

BKSGEC substantially completed the construction of the LSPP and related connection facilities in early August 2025. The company now awaits NGCP’s approval of the energization request filed on August 29, 2025, with actual testing and commissioning expected to add power to the Luzon grid.

The LSPP is one of four utility-scale solar power projects with an aggregate capacity of 112 MWDC under RGEC’s current portfolio.

RGEC is a joint venture between Japan’s Taisei Corp. and Yuchengco affiliate PetroGreen Energy Corp. (PGEC).

Other facilities include the 27-MW Dagohoy Solar Power Project (DSPP) in Isabela, the 19.6-MWDC San Jose Solar Power Project (SJSPP) in Nueva Ecija and the 25-MWDC Bugallon Solar Power Project (BSPP) in Pangasinan.

The DSPP and SJSPP started commercial operations in July 2025 and August 2025, respectively. The BSPP, completed in August, also awaits approval of the energization request filed with NGCP on Aug. 20, 2025.
