Bringing the Land Down Under closer to Filipinos

Australian content creator and host Dwayne Woolley admitted that he often misses the familiar flavors of his home—from Vegemite and Capilano Honey to his childhood favorite, Weet-Bix.

“When I get to taste these products again, it reminds me of Australia, the feeling of being there,” he told Manila Standard Lifestyle.

His longing for the taste of home echoed the purpose of A Taste of Australia, a showcase at Landmark Supermarket Makati that invites shoppers to experience the everyday goodness Australians grew up with.

Held on Oct. 4, the event gathered representatives from Landmark, NexTrade Philippines, and the Australian Embassy, led by Landmark COO Teddy Keng, SVP for Marketing Michelle Keng, NexTrade vice president Hans Lim, and Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Marc Innes-Brown, who together led the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“This Australian cuisine is renowned for its unique blend of organic ingredients, modern innovation, and multicultural influences,” Keng said.

“You will have the chance to sample and taste some of the authentic Australian products, learn about their sources, and experience the rich flavors that make Australian cuisine special,” he added.

Keng also highlighted Landmark’s role in connecting Filipino consumers with Australian goods while supporting the producers behind them.

Hans Lim described the event not just as a launch but as a partnership with a shared vision to bring the best of Australia to the Philippines.

He pointed to well-loved Australian staples like Vegemite, Dolmio, and Cobs Popcorn, expressing hope that these items would “find a place in your kitchens, your homes, and your pantries, just as they do for us in Australia.”

Meanwhile, Ambassador Marc Innes-Brown praised Landmark’s initiative, calling it a meaningful step in strengthening trade and cultural ties between Australia and the Philippines.

“It really is heartwarming, as the Ambassador of Australia, to come here and see so much good food and beverage here that will be on the shelves,” Innes-Brown said.

He noted that Landmark’s inclusion of Australian goods is not a temporary display but a long-term commitment.

“I understand there will be a permanent aisle here that will have great Australian produce,” he added.

He also underscored what makes Australian food distinctive—its high standards, cleanliness, sustainability, and health benefits.

“Australian produce is renowned for its high quality, its cleanliness, and also its sustainability and health properties,” Innes-Brown said, adding that collaborations like this “bring benefits to both consumers in this country and also in my country.”

Now available at Landmark branches nationwide, the featured Australian brands reflect a lifestyle built on quality, sustainability, and natural goodness.
