Ateneo to build 15-hectare campus in Cavite

Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) is set to construct a new campus in General Trias City, Cavite, on a 15-hectare property within the Riverpark township development, a venture of GT Capital Holdings’ wholly-owned property subsidiary Federal Land Inc. (Federal Land) and its joint venture Federal Land NRE Global Inc. (FNG).

GT Capital Holdings said Monday it signed a memorandum of agreement with Ateneo for the establishment of the campus. Riverpark is Federal Land and FNG’s largest township development, spanning 600 hectares.

GT Capital vice chairman Alfred Ty said in a statement to the stock exchange that Ateneo’s presence “not only strengthens the educational landscape of Cavite but also uplifts the lives of the communities we serve.”

“Our investment in this campus reflects our long-term commitment to creating sustainable value for generations of Filipinos, anchored on the values of excellence and service,” he said.

The new campus is targeted to open in 2030 and aims to bring “holistic and world-class education” closer to learners in Cavite and nearby provinces.

“The new Ateneo campus in Riverpark allows us to extend our mission and provide more families in Cavite and nearby provinces with access to quality education rooted in our Jesuit tradition,” said Ateneo de Manila University president Father Roberto Yap.

Ateneo operates its main campus in Katipunan, Quezon City and has several other campuses across the country, including sites in Rockwell and Salcedo in Makati City, Clark Freeport in Pampanga, Sta. Rosa in Laguna, Cebu and Iloilo.

Riverpark, envisioned to be “The Next-Gen City of the South,” houses developments such as the UNIQLO Logistics Facility and the upcoming SM City General Trias.

Representing GT Capital at the signing were vice chairman Alfred Ty and president Carmelo Maria Luza Bautista. Ateneo de Manila University was represented by its president, Father Roberto Yap. Also present were Ateneo board of trustees chairperson Bernadine Siy, Federal Land vice chairman and FNG president William Thomas Mirasol, FNG vice chairman Yusuke Hirano and Federal Land president Jose Mari Banzon.
