GAC made a powerful statement on its commitment to the local EV market at the 13th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) 2025, unveiling two highly anticipated electric models and outlining a bold localization strategy for Southeast Asia.
Under the banner of “GAC Global Ecosystem — Leading a New Era of Green Mobility in the Philippines,” GAC officially launched two all-new Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), the family-oriented AION V and the luxurious flagship HYPTEC HT. The company also gave the Philippine public its first look at the AION UT, a youth-focused global strategic model that has already seen success in neighboring Thailand. These launches are part of GAC’s strategy to accelerate its EV rollout in Southeast Asia and reaffirm its long-term presence in the region.
The newly launched AION V is positioned as a high-quality, long-range BEV SUV designed for urban families and professionals. It is equipped with GAC’s proprietary Magazine Battery 2.0, which boasts fireproof technology even under direct impact, offering a CLTC-rated range of 520 km. Practicality is a key feature, with the AION V capable of charging from 30% to 80% in a mere 16 minutes via DC fast charging.
Elevating the electric experience, the flagship HYPTEC HT electric SUV redefines luxury and intelligent technology. It is designed for the premium user, featuring standout elements such as dual-stage electric gullwing doors, Nappa leather interiors, and reclining rear seats. The cockpit boasts a 14.6-inch HD infotainment display powered by Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8155 chip, while advanced safety is guaranteed by its submarine-grade steel body.

GAC’s EV showcase at PEVS wasn’t limited to all-electric models; it also featured the luxurious M8 PHEV plug-in hybrid MPV and the intelligent EMKOO HEV hybrid SUV.
GAC’s expansion is underpinned by its “ONE GAC 2.0” global strategy, which prioritizes sustained localization. Since its entry in 2018, the company has grown its network to over 30 dealerships and service centers and, in 2024, achieved an impressive 65% year-on-year sales increase in the country. “This is a landmark moment for GAC in the Philippines. We are introducing world-class electric vehicles that combine advanced technology, practical features, and outstanding safety, tailored to Filipino lifestyles,” said Mr. Wang Shunsheng, Senior Vice President of GAC International.
To accelerate local EV adoption, GAC International Philippines General Manager Mr. Calvin Cheng announced an Exclusive Launch Privilege Package for early buyers of the AION V and HYPTEC HT. For a token payment of ₱999, customers will receive over ₱99,999 in benefits, including a 7kW wall-mounted home charger, charging credits, a ₱10,000 cash discount, and a comprehensive package of tint, maintenance, insurance, and registration. “We are not just launching new models. We are also building long-term partnerships, creating jobs, and investing in the Philippine EV ecosystem. We see the Philippines as a key market in GAC’s Southeast Asia roadmap,” affirmed Mr. Cheng, underscoring GAC’s commitment to creating an electric future that is inclusive, sustainable, and distinctly Filipino.
