SB19 dominates inaugural Filipino Music Awards with six major wins

P-Pop sensation SB19 led the winners of the first Filipino Music Awards, taking home six major honors, including Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year, and Concert of the Year.

The group also won three People’s Choice trophies for Artist, Song, and Pop Song of the Year—fueled by the success of their hit single “dungka!” from the EP Simula at Wakas.

Joining them on the winners’ list was IV of Spades, who earned Rock Song of the Year for “Aura.” The track debuted at No. 4 on Spotify Philippines’ Top 50 chart and marked the band’s celebrated comeback. Their upcoming concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, produced by Karpos, sold out two months ahead of schedule.

Rising singer-songwriter dwta, a Bicol native, received Folk Song of the Year for “Sampung Mga Daliri,” her collaboration with SB19’s Justin. The recognition follows her growing presence in local music through projects like Flower Girl’s official soundtrack and BINI’s viral single “First Luv.”

Sony Music Entertainment, which manages all three acts, was named Music Company of the Year.

“We’re deeply honored and proud of our artists whose stellar work has been recognized,” said Kevin Foo, Sony Music Entertainment’s managing director for Southeast Asia. “These wins are a testament to their extraordinary talent, creativity, and hard work.”

Roslyn Pineda, Sony Music Entertainment Philippines’ general manager, said the recognition reflects the team’s shared passion for elevating Filipino music globally.

Several acts under the label also performed during the ceremony, including IV of Spades with “Aura,” Ely Buendia with “Kandarapa,” and Gloc-9 with “Upuan.”

The night closed with a joint performance by SB19 and Ben&Ben, marking the first live collaboration of their song “Kapangyarihan.”

The Filipino Music Awards, held on Oct. 21, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, brought together more than 500 artists, industry leaders, and fans in a celebration of Original Pilipino Music.

The official telecast of the Filipino Music Awards airs this weekend on TV5 and via livestream on the network’s Facebook page. Part 1 is airing tonight at 9:45, followed by Part 2 on Oct. 26 at 9:30 p.m.
