Dizon names Esquibil as new DPWH acting undersecretary

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon on Monday officially appointed Lara Esquibil as the new officer-in-charge (OIC) Undersecretary for Convergence and Technical Services.

As the newly appointed OIC, Esquibil will be responsible for leading the department’s major convergence programs and technical initiatives that support infrastructure development in partnership with other government agencies.

Her appointment comes at a pivotal moment, as the DPWH accelerates the rollout of national infrastructure projects under the government’s Build Better More program.

The 36-year-old engineer used to head the department’s Bureau of Design.

“She [Esquibil] has my full trust and confidence,” Dizon said during the flag-raising ceremony of the agency.

“If you are honest, if you are hardworking, if you want to do nothing but serve our countrymen and give them quality projects, then she is a perfect fit cause she is the current head of the Bureau of Design,” he added.

Aside from leading the agency’s Bureau of Design, the 36-year-old was also part of the first batch of the Cadet Engineering Program, which was initiated by then DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson.

Dizon described Esquibil as “young, dynamic and professional.”

The Cadet Engineering Program was aimed at recruiting the country’s top engineering graduates and training them further in preparation for higher positions in the DPWH.
