Team Asia moved to the brink of retaining its crown after another commanding performance on Day 3 of the 2025 LiveSB.io Reyes Cup on Saturday evening at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Led by Carlo Biado, Aloysius Yapp, and Duong Quoc Hoang, the Asian squad continued its dominant run, scoring a 2-1 victory over Team Rest of the World to take a 9-1 overall lead heading into Sunday’s final stage.
“I’m so proud of this team. None of us expected to be this dominant, but the chemistry and energy we’ve had all week has been incredible,” said Biado, the two-time WPA World Nine-ball Champion, who once again played a pivotal role in the team’s success.
In Match 8, Team Rest of the World finally broke through, with Germany’s Moritz Neuhausen holding steady in a tense deciding rack to secure a 5-4 win — their first point of the event.
But the celebration was short-lived. Vietnam’s Duong Quoc Hoang restored order for Team Asia in Match 9, dispatching Skyler Woodward in dominant fashion, 5-1, to regain momentum.
Capping the evening in style, Yapp and Biado delivered a flawless 5-0 rout of Francisco Sánchez Ruiz and Neuhausen, showcasing their sharp precision and seamless teamwork.
“Carlo was unbelievable out there. You can see why he’s a world champion. I left some tough shots for him, but he saved me every time,” Yapp said of his Filipino teammate.
With the commanding lead, Team Asia now sits just two points away from clinching back-to-back Reyes Cup championships, underscoring the squad’s remarkable form and cohesion throughout the week-long event.
