AdventEnergy to supply 13.8 MW of electricity to DITO cell towers

AdventEnergy, the retail electricity supply arm of Aboitiz Power Corp., has agreed to supply 13.8 megawatts of electricity to 1,642 cell towers OF DITO Telecommunity, the companies announced on Thursday.

The strategic partnership, covering towers mostly in the Greater Manila, South Luzon and North Luzon areas, is expected to help DITO strengthen its operations and deliver reliable $5\text{G}$ network services to its 15 million subscribers.

DITO Telecommunity president and chief executive Eric Alberto said the electricity would be used to strengthen the company’s digital-first, future-ready network.

“Our partnership with AdventEnergy goes more than just an energy supply contract,” Alberto said in a statement.

“This is an investment that will keep millions of Filipinos connected, informed and empowered in today’s fast-paced digital world,” he said.

The agreement allows DITO to leverage the competitive retail electricity market and maximize savings that can be reinvested in enhancing connectivity and customer experience. This was facilitated by the Energy Regulatory Commission’s Retail Aggregation Program which allows enterprises with multiple facilities in a contiguous area to combine their electricity demand to meet the 500-kilowatt threshold for market participation.

Aboitiz Group president and chief executive Sabin Aboitiz said the partnership supports the group’s goal of strengthening its portfolio of partners.

“We are not only delivering reliable and sustainable energy but also synergizing to create solutions that benefit generations to come. This is especially important in a predominantly digital world,” Aboitiz said.

AdventEnergy president James Yu noted the company’s commitment to supporting industries critical to the nation’s functioning.

“Partnering with DITO Telecommunity allows us to showcase how energy solutions can power critical industries such as telecommunications, reliably and at scale,” Yu said.

DITO Telecommunity chief revenue officer Adel Tamano said AdventEnergy’s support better positions DITO to deliver reliable digital services “while caring for our environment and future generations.”
