In the first days of October, driver-partners of Maxim Cebu provided humanitarian aid to the community affected by the recent natural disaster, delivering water and rice to the damaged area and donating blood at the local hospital.
This help was provided to about a hundred families of Bogo City who found refuge at temporary shelters organized in Cebu Provincial Hospital Bogo City and Bogo Gymnasium. The supplies were transported in Maxim’s trucks, but the road leading to the shelters had been destroyed. This is why the task of delivering goods was taken on by driver-partners with more mobile and versatile vehicles—motos.
Sixty-two Maxim driver-partners lent their hands in distributing food to the people in need. The company sent a total of more than 500 kg (1,100 lbs) of rice, 200 packs of biscuits, and about 100 bottles of water. This campaign was sponsored by the company as well as its partners who could not stand aside during these trying times.
The next day, a group of driver-partners went to Vicente Sotto Hospital to donate blood. More than 60 victims of the earthquake had been admitted to the hospital, which, subsequently, left the medical facility with critically low blood supplies. Seventy-two driver-partners donated at Vicente Sotto, contributing about 35 liters of blood. Their colleagues in Lapu-Lapu City soon followed suit with 30 people giving almost 15 liters. All donations will be used to treat the patients injured by the earthquake.
This social campaign was followed by a street cleanup aimed to mitigate the consequences of the disaster. The company’s team cleaned the streets of the affected zone from 5 to 8 a.m. Not only did this initiative help restore the urban environment and order, it also became yet one more confirmation of Maxim’s commitment to supporting local communities in times of crisis.
“This earthquake has become a grave challenge for our communities, and it is at a time like this when we must stand together. Maxim and our driver-partners are doing everything we can to support the people, be it street cleanups, blood donations, or whatever else that is needed. We are a team, and only by staying united can we overcome major difficulties,” comments Poliran Christopher Landong, the head of Maxim Cebu.
This effort is one of the many social initiatives launched by Maxim Rides & Food Delivery and its driver-partners. It marks an important step in local community support and shows that Maxim’s partners are ready to come together when lives are at stake.
