AUB, SSS launch co-branded ID, ATM card for 40 million members

Asia United Bank (AUB) has teamed up with the state-pension fund Social Security System (SSS) to launch the MySSS Card, a co-branded identification and ATM card aimed at making benefit disbursements more accessible and convenient for more than 40 million SSS members.

The MySSS Card allows SSS members to receive their benefits, loan proceeds and pensions through AUB’s e-wallet platform, HelloMoney, AUB said in a statement on Monday.

The card functions as both a valid government-issued identification card and an ATM card and is backed by the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) e-Verify system, enabling a fast, paperless application process. Once approved, members can instantly receive their card from their preferred HelloMoney kiosk, bypassing the usual delays in card issuance.

The MySSS Card has a one-time card fee of P250, with no annual fees, no maintaining balance requirement and no dormancy charges. Members can also use cash-in facilities at 7-Eleven stores, EcPay outlets and AUB branches nationwide.

“Today’s signing of the memorandum of agreement for the MySSS Card is more than a symbolic collaboration. It is a concrete demonstration of how government and the private sector can work together to bring financial services closer to the people, especially to those who have long remained unbanked or underserved,” said AUB president Manuel Gomez.

“The MySSS Card powered by HelloMoney ensures that members and pensioners can receive and manage the benefits they’ve worked hard for,” said Gomez.

Aside from serving as a payout card, the MySSS Card gives users access to the full suite of HelloMoney digital banking services including free balance inquiries, bills payments, and fund transfers to AUB accounts, free withdrawals at AUB ATMs, mobile load purchases and remittance services, among others.

AUB will also introduce the Annual Confirmation of Pensioners (ACOP) program soon within its mobile app.

AUB clients who are SSS pensioners can conveniently complete their annual ACOP compliance through a mobile liveness test, eliminating the need for in-person visits.

The initiative addresses common challenges faced by pensioners, particularly mobility and accessibility, ensuring that they can comply with requirements to continue receiving their pensions.

Current HelloMoney ATM cardholders will have their old cards automatically deactivated upon linking to the MySSS Card, which offers the same features with the added benefit of SSS integration.
