OldTown White Coffee, a Malaysian beverage company, plans to invest P400 million in its network expansion in the Mindanao and Visayas regions over the next five years, its Philippine licensee, the Del Mundo Group, said.

This follows the opening of its eleventh outlet in Zamboanga City on Oct. 3, 2025.

The investment will cover the opening of 20 OldTown White Coffee outlets, with 10 planned for Mindanao and 10 for the Visayas, according to the Del Mundo Group.

OldTown White Coffee, a well-known Halal brand originating in Ipoh, Malaysia, teamed up with the Del Mundo Group for its regional expansion in the Philippines.

It operates more than 200 outlets in Malaysia and also has a presence in Singapore, Indonesia and Hong Kong. Its first Philippine outlet opened in May 2023 in Caloocan City.

“We are optimistic about our continued expansion in Visayas and Mindanao, especially in Zamboanga, which we see as a growing hub for business and tourism,” said Nelson del Mundo, chief executive of Del Mundo Group.

“The strong local economy, combined with the region’s rich culture and emerging consumer market, makes it an ideal location for our brands to thrive. We believe that bringing our trusted restaurant concepts here will not only create jobs and opportunities for local communities but also contribute to the area’s vibrant dining landscape.”

The newest store, located on Pasonanca Road in Tumaga, Zamboanga City, marks OldTown White Coffee’s first outlet in the city.

“Our dream is to bring a global brand to Zamboanga that reflects both quality and cultural authenticity. OldTown White Coffee is exactly that,” said Pherhan Saiddi and Jhulie Saiddi, Zamboanga City OldTown branch owners.

“We believe Zamboangueños will appreciate not just the coffee, but the entire dining experience that pays homage to Malaysian culinary heritage,” they said.

Del Mundo Group chief operating officer Matt Ablis said: “We’re thrilled to bring OldTown to the heart of Zamboanga. This expansion represents more than just growth — it’s about sharing a beloved café experience that blends heritage, comfort and community. We’re excited for Zamboangueños to experience OldTown’s signature coffee and meals that celebrate both tradition and modern taste. It’s an honor to be part of Zamboanga’s growing culinary scene.”

Top executives of OldTown White Coffee, the Del Mundo Group and local officials attended the Zamboanga City opening.

These included OldTown White Coffee chief financial officer Arnold Molenhuis, Del Mundo Group chief executive Nelson Del Mundo and Chief Operations Officer Matt Ablis. Also in attendance were the branch owners, Zamboanga City Mayor Khymer Adan Olaso and former Zamboanga City mayor and congressman Celso Lobregat.

The Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Dato Abdul Malik Melvin Castillano Anthony, was also in attendance during the second day of the branch opening.

The Del Mundo Group has a track record in the Philippine food and beverage industry, operating brands such as Mesa Filipino Moderne, Ramen Bari Uma, Buchiton from Japan, Hayashi Yakiniku and Cravy from Seoul, Korea.
