“All residents living in coastal areas identified as high-risk zones shall be required to evacuate immediately to designated safe zones and evacuation centers, as determined by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) and local government units,” the EO read.

In Davao City, officials ordered the suspension of classes at all levels in both public and private schools to give authorities time to inspect buildings and ensure the safety of infrastructure and other facilities across the city.

“In view of the recent earthquake and to give way to the conduct of rapid damage assessment of infrastructures and facilities, classes in all levels, public and private educational institutions, in Davao City are hereby suspended immediately,” the city government said in an advisory.

In neighboring Davao Oriental, the municipality of Governor Generoso also suspended classes and government work.

“Classes at all levels and work in national and local government offices within the Municipality of Governor Generoso are suspended today, Friday, 10 October 2025, due to the 7.6-magnitude earthquake,” the order read.

“Private offices may adopt as appropriate,” it added.

Meanwhile, Davao De Oro also announced the immediate suspension of work and classes except for frontline offices.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that the earthquake occurred at 9:43 a.m. and had a depth of 10 kilometers. Its epicenter is located off the coast of Manay, Davao Oriental.

PHIVOLCS reported that the earthquake registered at magnitude-7.6 before downgrading it to 7.4 after further validation.
