Abueva took charge in the third quarter, pouring in 16 of his total output as the Ultras built a commanding 76-63 lead heading into the final frame.

“We took advantage of Calvin. We knew he could score, and the other players focused on defense,” said head coach Johnedel Cardel.

Joshua Munzon chipped in 14 points, including eight in the payoff period. He calmly sank two clutch free throws in the final five seconds to give the Ultras a comfortable five-point cushion, 100-95.

The Ultras led by as many as 19 points, 90-71, following Abueva’s booming triple with 6:49 left in the game.

“Kilala naman natin kung gaano kalakas ang katawan niyan at kung gaano kalaki ang puso—‘The Beast’ talaga. So we went to him,” Cardel added.

Abueva also sparked the Titans’ comeback from an early 0-11 hole, scoring 10 points in the second quarter to help tie the game at 45-all by halftime.

CJ Cansino led the Bolts with 22 points in the losing effort.
