Filipina athlete Jessica Agra has emerged as Asia’s top-ranked female padel player following her strong showing in a recent tournament in Thailand.
Agra climbed to No. 149 in the latest International Padel Federation (FIP) women’s world rankings, making her the highest-ranked player of Asian descent. The next Asian on the list is Japan’s Kae Tokumoto, who currently sits at No. 173.
A lawyer by profession, Agra recently improved her ranking from No. 156 after competing in the FIP Rise Samui tournament in Thailand. Partnering with Japan’s Kotomi Ozawa, the duo reached the quarterfinals, defeating China’s Sirui He and Japan’s Sayaka Yoshimoto, 6-3, 6-3.
In the quarterfinals, Agra and Ozawa put up a strong fight before falling to Beatrice Gumulya of Indonesia and Chifumi Sato of Japan, 6-7, 5-7.
This latest performance adds to Agra’s growing reputation in the international padel circuit. Just three months earlier, she achieved a career-high No. 145 after back-to-back stints in FIP tournaments across Asia.
At the FIP Silver Chengdu event in China (July 2–6), Agra and Japan’s Yoshino Kushima advanced to the quarterfinals. The following week, at the FIP Bronze Tokyo (July 9–13), Agra teamed up with Spain’s Maria Mayoral Estrada, reaching the semifinals before bowing to eventual champions Rosalie Van Der Hoek of the Netherlands and Camila Ramme Coellar of Mexico, 0-6, 0-6.
