FILIPINA swimming ace Xiandi Chua has once again etched her name in the record books after resetting the Philippine standard at the 2025 Australian Short Course Championships.
Chua clocked 4 minutes and 43.19 seconds in the Women’s 400-meter Individual Medley, breaking her own national record of 4:43.85 set during the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Hungary.
The feat underscored her relentless drive to improve as she intensifies preparations for the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand this December.
The 24-year-old star is expected to carry the country’s hopes in the pool as she plunges into action in five events: the 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 200m Individual Medley, 400m Individual Medley, and the 200m backstroke—where she is the reigning SEA Games champion.
In Cambodia 2023, Chua emerged as one of Team Philippines’ brightest performers, striking gold in the 200m backstroke with a Games record time of 2:13.20. She also delivered a silver medal and two bronzes, proving her versatility and consistency on the regional stage.
Chua’s latest record-breaking swim in Australia not only cements her position as the country’s top female swimmer but also signals her readiness to challenge Southeast Asia’s elite once again.
Her performance is also seen as a strong morale booster for the entire Philippine contingent, as the nation looks to surpass its medal haul from the previous edition of the Games.
