Signal No. 3 in parts of Luzon as ‘Paolo’ enters ‘severe’ category

Cyclone ‘Paolo’ intensified further into a severe tropical storm, prompting the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) to adjust existing wind signals a notch higher on Friday morning.

Based on its 5:00 a.m. advisory on October 3, PAGASA said ‘Paolo’ has moved closer at 150 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora. It kept moving west at the speed of 20 km per hour (kph) with maximum sustained winds of 100 kph and gusts of up to 125 kph.

The rest of mainland Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, the rest of Aurora, the northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta) including Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, the northern portion of Camarines Sur (Siruma, Tinambac, Lagonoy, Garchitorena, Caramoan, Goa, San Jose, Presentacion), Catanduanes, the rest of Apayao, the rest of Ilocos Norte, the rest of Pangasinan, the rest of Nueva Ecija, the northern portion of Bulacan (Doña Remedios Trinidad, San Miguel, San Ildefonso, Norzagaray, San Rafael), Tarlac, the northeastern portion of Pampanga (Magalang, Arayat, Candaba, Mabalacat City), and the northern portion of Zambales (Palauig, Masinloc, Candelaria, Santa Cruz)

PAGASA maintained its earlier forecasts that ‘Paolo’ will make a landfall either in northern Aurora or southern Isabela within the day. Communities are warned of heavy rains, storm surge, and strong winds that may results in floods or other hazards.
