More areas were placed under tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1 as ‘Paolo’ intensified into a tropical storm on Thursday morning.
Latest advisory from the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) showed ‘Paolo’ threatening Luzon provinces again.
As of 5:00 a.m., it was estimated at 705 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon, moving northwestward at 20 km per hour (kph). It was packing 65 kph of winds with gusts of up to 80 kph.
‘Paolo’ is forecast to land on either Isabela or northern Aurora by Friday, according to PAGASA, and may further intensify up to typhoon category.
“After crossing the landmass of Northern Luzon, it will emerge over the West Philippine Sea tomorrow afternoon (Friday) and will continue moving west northwestward until it exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday (04 October) morning,” PAGASA said.
Wind signal no. 1 is currently observed over the following areas:
Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, the northern portion of Zambales (Palauig, Masinloc, Candelaria, Santa Cruz), Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, the northern portion of Bulacan (Doña Remedios Trinidad, San Miguel, San Ildefonso), the northern portion of Pampanga (Magalang, Arayat, Candaba, Mabalacat City), the northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar) including Polillo Islands, and the northern portion of Catanduanes (Pandan, Bagamanoc, Panganiban, Viga)
