Manila Water Company said Wednesday it is nearing completion of its P3.9-billion Aglipay Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Mandaluyong City, an advanced facility that will treat up to 60 million liters of wastewater per day (MLD) from parts of Metro Manila.
The Aglipay STP, one of the company’s most expansive facilities, is undergoing testing and commissioning to ensure compliance with environmental standards, the utility said.
Once fully operational, the plant will benefit more than 652,000 residents across Mandaluyong, San Juan, and Quezon Cities by significantly improving water quality in nearby rivers, reducing pollution and enhancing public health.
The facility is a key component of the Mandaluyong West–San Juan South and Quezon City South Sewerage System Project. It is designed to service a 2,115-hectare catchment area and is Manila Water’s 42nd STP in the East Zone concession area.
Manila Water communication affairs group director Jeric Sevilla cited the plant’s importance. “The Aglipay STP is a landmark achievement for Manila Water. Its scale, technology, and reach reflect our deep commitment to building resilient and sustainable communities,” Sevilla said.
The facility’s capacity is expandable to 120 MLD once the 53-kilometer sewer network is completed, which would double its capacity to meet future demand.
