Manila Vice Mayor Chi Atienza is calling for strong public-private partnerships to restore the capital city’s iconic zoo to its full glory.
“Manila Zoo is very close to my heart… We have elephants, all the animals are healthy, and really when we come here, no matter what, we forget about the problems they have when they go home… but the government cannot do it alone,” she said on Tuesday.
The city council’s presiding officer extended an open invitation to businesses and the public to support the zoo’s rehabilitation as part of the city government’s tourism efforts.
Meanwhile, Atienza also revealed that her office is already taking steps to actively seek help from neighboring countries to bring new life to the zoo.
Likewise, she stressed that the revival will pave the way for a stronger and more vibrant city.
“Let this be the first of many other collaborative works that we will be doing for the city… Because we, [together with Mayor Isko, believe that if we work together, we will be able to make Manila great again,” said Atienza.
