The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said it recorded more than 56 million authentications for its National ID system as of Sept. 17, 2025, reflecting the platform’s growing use in social protection and financial services.
It said that 56,520,952 authentications have been logged across integrated systems in government, social protection, private and financial sectors.
National statistician and civil registrar general Claire Dennis Mapa said the milestone reflects the agency’s efforts to implement the National ID system and support the government’s push for digitalization.
“We are now achieving a central goal of the National ID – easier transactions through reliable identity verification using a valid proof of identity,” Mapa said.
“Now with over 56 million authentications through the National ID, we see that our vision has turned into reality,” he said.
The system’s main use cases involve social protection and financial inclusion, according to the agency.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) used the National ID to clean its National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction, which helped remove “duplicates or ghost beneficiaries” to ensure proper distribution of funds.
Government agencies and local government units (LGUs) have reported improved service delivery and better targeting of beneficiaries. The PSA has facilitated the onboarding of 87 organizations onto the system as of Sept. 17.
Authentication services have also been integrated for the processing of civil registry documents—such as birth, marriage and death certificates—in the municipalities of Tublay and Tuba in Benguet, and the City of Maasin in Southern Leyte, helping to eliminate manual record checking.
Financial institutions have seen client onboarding become more accessible, leading to faster processing times.
Laidy Claire dela Rosa, chief compliance officer at Asia United Bank (AUB), said the National ID helped cut the approval process for their HelloMoney mobile wallet from two to three days to just one day.
Joanne Avendano, vice president for customer experience at G-Xchange Inc., which operates the GCash mobile wallet, cited speed as a key benefit.
“Because the integration is real-time, it allows for us to approve customer applications real-time as well,” Avendano said.
Rosalinda Bautista, deputy national statistician of the PhilSys Registry Office, called on more institutions to integrate with the system.
“We encourage relying parties who have yet to integrate with the National ID to integrate using the National ID eVerify,” Bautista said.
