Fashion and film collided in Milan as Meryl Streep, in full Miranda Priestly mode, crossed paths with Vogue’s Anna Wintour during the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2026 show on Sept. 27.
The sighting, shared by Vogue on Instagram, showed the fictional Runway editor-in-chief trading smiles with the real-life fashion powerhouse backstage. The post cheekily read, “Can you please spell Gabbana? Of course they can.”
Streep’s surprise front-row appearance doubled as filming for The Devil Wears Prada 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2006 hit. Production began in June, with returning stars Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci all reprising their roles.
According to IMDb, the sequel follows Miranda as she faces off with former assistant Emily Charlton, now a rival executive, in a battle for advertising dollars amid the decline of print media.
The original film, inspired by Lauren Weisberger’s bestselling novel, was loosely based on Wintour herself.
Speaking on The New Yorker Radio Hour, Wintour recalled attending the premiere in Prada without knowing the plot but admitted she found the film “highly enjoyable” and praised Streep’s performance.
