Wushu prodigy Daraliay bags bronze at 1st ASEAN-China tourney

RISING wushu star Zion Daraliay has added another international medal to her collection, clinching the bronze in the Women’s Taijiquan event at the inaugural ASEAN-China Women’s Wushu Championships.

The competition, held in Malaysia, showcased the region’s top female talents in the Chinese martial art.

Daraliay, a taolu specialist, delivered a powerful performance in the Juniors Division, earning a score of 9.256 points to secure a spot on the podium.

 The victory marks her second bronze medal on the world stage, following her third-place finish at the 2022 World Junior Wushu Championships.

The young Filipina also competed in the Women’s Taijiquan event, where she finished in 5th place, demonstrating her versatility across different divisions. The event also featured fellow national team member and multiple-time SEA Games gold medalist, Agatha Wong, who placed 4th.

Daraliay’s continued success solidifies her position as a promising talent in the Philippine Wushu team, which has consistently produced world-class athletes. Her performance, alongside the veteran Wong, highlights the depth of talent within the country’s wushu program.

The Wushu Federation of the Philippines has been a consistent source of medals for the country in international competitions, and Daraliay’s latest achievement is a testament to the federation’s efforts in developing young athletes.
