United Airlines said Thursday it will replace its entire Guam-based Boeing 737-800 fleet with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with the first delivery scheduled for February 2026.
The new planes will operate United’s intra-Asia flights, which include daily service from Manila to Guam, a twice-weekly service from Manila to Palau, and a daily service from Cebu to Tokyo-Narita.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft will feature United’s signature interior, including seatback entertainment, larger overhead bins, and wireless Bluetooth connectivity.
The planes will seat up to 166 passengers, including up to 16 in United First. All seats will have access to USB charge ports and seatback entertainment with accessibility features.
“Our investment in new aircraft to service our intra-Asia routes will deliver the premium experience our customers expect of United,” said Kenichi Kiriyama, United Airlines’ director of sales for Asia and Micronesia.
“For customers with connecting flights to or from the mainland U.S., these investments will mean a consistent, seamless experience from check-in to landing,” he said.
United is the only US airline with non-stop trans-Pacific flights to and from the Philippines, with 30 weekly services. This includes a daily service from Manila to San Francisco, which will increase to twice-daily from Oct. 26.
