LIV Golf stars, local hero Tabuena, Japan’s ace Higa join star-studded cast for International Series Philippines at Sta. Elena

An illustrious line-up is taking shape for the International Series Philippines presented by BingoPlus, with back-to-back Asian Tour champion Kazuki Higa the latest to confirm his entry alongside homegrown star Miguel Tabuena and a growing contingent of LIV Golf standouts. The event will be staged from October 23 to 26 at Sta. Elena Golf Club in Manila.

Higa, an eight-time Japan Golf Tour winner, surged to the top of the Asian Tour Order of Merit last weekend after winning consecutive titles at the 41st Shinhan Donghae Open in Korea and the Yeangder TPC in Chinese Taipei. He now joins a world-class field brimming with major champions, rising stars, and seasoned Asian Tour winners.

Tabuena, a two-time Asian Tour titlist, will lead the local charge. Speaking during the tournament’s media day, he emphasized the significance of hosting The International Series on Philippine soil.

“It is very, very exciting and I’m very glad that The International Series is making its first-ever stop in the Philippines. To have Major champions like Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed, Louis Oosthuizen, and Charl Schwartzel playing on one of our best courses is truly a dream come true,” said Tabuena.

The entry list has been further strengthened by a strong LIV Golf presence. Ben Campbell of RangeGoats GC, winner of the 2024 International Series Morocco and the 2023 Hong Kong Open, has confirmed his participation. Joining him are Caleb Surratt of Legion XIII, Kevin Na and Danny Lee of IronHeads GC, and Sam Horsfield of Majesticks GC. LIV wild cards Anthony Kim, the former US Ryder Cup star, and Lee Chieh-Po, also known as Max Lee, are also set to compete.

Lee, who won the 2023 International Series Thailand, earned his LIV Golf League card with a dramatic victory at the season-ending Promotions event in Abu Dhabi.

Tabuena has called The International Series the “Majors of the Asian Tour,” citing its elite fields and the clear pathway it provides onto LIV Golf. “The International Series is something I plan my schedule around so I can peak at the right time,” he explained. “If you want to improve as a golfer, you need to test your game against stronger fields and world-class talent. Having The International Series here at home is very special—it’s truly a dream come true.”

Asian Tour stalwarts add further depth to the field. Among them are two-time Hong Kong Open winner Wade Ormsby of Australia, Thailand’s Sarit Suwannarut, a two-time International Series champion, and India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar, who captured the Indonesian Masters crown in 2023.

The International Series Philippines is one of nine elevated events on the Asian Tour calendar this season, each offering players a chance to climb the season-long Rankings and secure a place in LIV Golf. Beyond the action on the course, the event promises a festival-like atmosphere with headline concerts, live music, gourmet dining, premium hospitality, and immersive fan activities throughout the week.

General admission is free on Thursday and Friday, while tickets on Saturday and Sunday are priced at P1,200 per day. Registration is required for all four days, and tickets are available through SM Tickets.
