Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao affected by ‘Opong’

Areas across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao are now observing tropical cyclone wind signals ahead of the expected landfall of severe tropical storm ‘Opong’ in the Bicol region.

State weather bureau PAGASA released updated lists of wind signals as of 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, as the storm maintained its strength while over the Philippine Sea.

Based on latest monitoring, ‘Opong’ was tracked at 300 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, moving northwestward at 15 km per hour (kph). It had maximum sustained winds of 110 kph and gustiness of up to 135 kph.

Signal No. 3 is currently raised over the following locations:

The northern and eastern portions of Northern Samar ( Gamay, Lapinig, Mapanas, Palapag, Laoang, San Roque, Pambujan, Catubig) and the northern portion of Eastern Samar ( San Policarpo, Arteche, Jipapad, Oras)

Signal No. 2 is hoisted in the following provinces and municipalities:

LUZON

The southern portion of Quezon (Tagkawayan, Guinayangan, Calauag, Lopez, San Andres, Mulanay, San Narciso, San Francisco, Buenavista, Catanauan, General Luna, Macalelon), The eastern portion of Marinduque (Santa Cruz, Torrijos), the northeastern portion of Romblon (Cajidiocan, Magdiwang, Banton, Romblon, Corcuera), Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate

VISAYAS

The rest of Northern Samar, the central portion of Eastern Samar (Can-Avid, Maslog, Taft, Dolores, Sulat, San Julian, City of Borongan, Maydolong), the northern and central portions of Samar (San Jorge, San Sebastian, Villareal, Zumarraga, Matuguinao, Pinabacdao, Almagro, Calbayog City, Talalora, Jiabong, Pagsanghan, City of Catbalogan, Gandara, Motiong, Santo Niño, Tagapul-An, San Jose de Buan, Santa Margarita, Tarangnan, Calbiga, Daram, Paranas, Hinabangan), Biliran, and the northern portion of Leyte (Calubian)
