Metro Retail Stores Group Inc. (MRSGI) said Wednesday it opened its newest Metro Store and Supermarket in Bais City, Negros Oriental, offering residents a modern and convenient shopping experience.
The opening forms part of MRSGI’s overall strategy to expand its footprint across the Visayas region.
The new Metro Market and Department Store is designed to provide easy access to fresh produce, household essentials and lifestyle products at everyday low prices. It also aims to serve as a hub for the local economy by supporting small businesses and creating employment opportunities.
“This launch is more than just the opening of a store; it is the beginning of a lasting partnership between Metro and the vibrant city of Bais,” said Joel Orense, president and chief operating officer of MRSGI.
“We are committed to becoming a meaningful part of this community by creating jobs, supporting local suppliers and contributing to the city’s growth and prosperity,” said Orense.
The store is expected to boost local commerce by collaborating with nearby producers and vendors, opening new channels for small enterprises to reach more consumers. It also offers Bais residents a single destination for their daily essentials and lifestyle needs.

MRSGI earlier open new supermarkets in Talisay City and Liloan in Cebu, Ligao City and Guinobatan in Albay, and in Gubat, Sorsogon, bringing its total store network to 76 stores.
MRSG posted a net income of P146.3 million in the first half of 2025, a 45.7-percent increase from a year ago as net sales went up 4.4 percent to P18.8 billion.
