The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has partnered with the Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution (OADR) to train its staff as accredited conciliators and tackle case backlogs.
The initiative, led by DHSUD Senior Undersecretary Sharon Faith Paquiz, is part of the department’s “Zero-Backlog Program” and its 8-Point Agenda, aiming to speed up the resolution of complaints and cases.
Paquiz cited the need for greater responsiveness, noting that “people are tired of waiting for slow processes and delayed action on permits, licenses, titles, and claims.”
The accreditation will also count toward employees’ Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements, subject to discussions with the Professional Regulatory Commission.
The trained DHSUD staff will assist in managing complaints and implementing dispute resolution strategies across the country, aligning with the department’s commitment to faster and fairer case resolution.
Also in attendance were DHSUD Undersecretaries Marisol Anenias and Odilon Pasaraba. The OADR delegation included Deputy Executive Director Krista Gem Santos, Jullianne Blair Coco, and Josephine Khaleen Sasuman.
