Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGEN) on Monday announced key leadership changes in its thermal generation business, effective Oct. 1, 2025.
Felino Bernardo will become president and chief executive of MGEN Thermal, succeeding Jaime Azurin, who will retire on Sept. 30, 2025. Azurin, who has served for over two decades as president of Global Business Power Corp. (GBP), will remain in an advisory role until Dec. 31, 2025, to ensure a smooth transition.
Arnel Santos will also join MGEN Thermal as senior vice president and chief operations officer, reporting directly to Bernardo. Santos brings more than 30 years of global experience in the oil, chemical and energy sectors.
“This leadership transition marks an important milestone for MGEN’s thermal business as we strengthen our role in providing reliable energy today while building the foundation for a sustainable future,” MGEN president and chief executive Emmanuel Rubio said in a statement.
“With Lino’s deep industry expertise and Arnel’s global track record in operational transformation, we are further equipping the business to meet the Philippines’ growing power needs responsibly and efficiently,” said Rubio.
