Metro Pacific unit buys Antipolo hospital

Metro Pacific Health Corp. (MPH), the Philippines’ largest private hospital network, said Monday it acquired a majority stake in Metro Antipolo Hospital and Medical Center Inc. (MAHMC), marking its 28th hospital investment.

Conceptualized in 2010 by a group of 59 physicians and professionals, MAHMC was established as a training hospital to cater to local healthcare needs and foster the development of specialized doctors.

Since its opening in 2016, the 109-bed Level 2 hospital on Marcos Highway in Antipolo City has become one of the largest hospitals in Rizal province. While it primarily serves the “Lower Antipolo” market, its location allows it to also treat patients from nearby cities in Metro Manila, including Marikina and Pasig, as well as other municipalities in Rizal.

“We are confident that MAHMC, under the leadership and management of MPH, is poised to achieve even greater things beyond medical expertise,” outgoing MAHMC president Dr. Nelson Bambalan said in a statement.

“With MAHMC becoming our 17th provincial hospital, we are reaffirming our commitment to enhancing access to high-quality healthcare services to communities beyond Metro Manila,” MPH president Augie Palisoc Jr. said.
