DOE issues draft for fifth RE auction

The Department of Energy has released draft terms for its fifth open and competitive selection process to award renewable energy service contracts.

The department has identified several hydropower, geothermal and wind energy resources with enough technical data for development to help meet the country’s energy needs.

Seven pre-determined areas (PDAs) are being proposed for hydro development with a combined potential capacity of 37.4 megawatts. They include the 6 MW Pinacanauan River, 2 MW Guiamon San Ramon, 8.5 MW Amtuagan, 6.7 MW Guinoba-an No. 1, 2.9 MW Guinoba-an No. 2, 8.3 MW Pacu-an and 3 MW Bacolan.

The department is also offering two geothermal PDAs: the 48 MW Mt. Natib and the 25 MW Southern Leyte projects.

Two wind energy projects, the Cabusao and San Isidro projects, are on offer, with their potential capacity yet to be announced.
