With mobile connection rates in the Philippines now at over 122 percent—approximately 142 million active cellular connections as of early 2025—Filipinos are more reliant than ever on their phones to access the internet.
Smart Communications said this week it is expanding its prepaid offerings with Magic Data, a service that allows users to buy data with no expiration, giving them the freedom to go online at their own pace.
The service, available through the Smart app or Smart Online Store, lets subscribers purchase data in bulk and use it anytime, whether for work, streaming, gaming, school, or online shopping. Once bought, the data stays until it is fully consumed.
Packages range from 3GB for P149 to 65GB for P729. Magic Data+ plans are also available, bundling data with calls and texts. Prices start at P199 for 4GB with 50 call minutes and 50 texts, and go up to P899 for 85GB with 900 call minutes and 900 texts.
Smart said the offer is designed to address common frustrations with expiring data promos. “It’s data with no expiration—no pressure, no deadlines,” the telco said.
For gamers, the service acts as a backup when home WiFi is slow, ensuring smoother gameplay. Streamers can avoid interruptions during live broadcasts, students can rely on it for online classes or research, and online shoppers can stay connected during flash sales.
Magic Data adds to Smart’s line of prepaid promos aimed at a wide range of digital lifestyles, from casual browsing to heavy usage. The company said the flexibility is what makes it stand out: instead of worrying about daily cutoffs, users can stock up once and use their gigabytes whenever needed.
