Security Bank Foundation Inc (SBFI), the corporate social responsibility arm of Security Bank Corp, has teamed up with the Department of Education (DepEd) to expand its three-year training program for teachers and principals.
Under the agreement, DepEd will endorse qualified applicants, provide learning and development credits, monitor action plans and supply key data to gauge the program’s impact.
The program, now in its third year, is called “Mentoring Future Leaders for Nation-Building” and aims to equip school principals with leadership and problem-solving skills.
Teachers in the program will receive training in student assessment, community engagement, and modern teaching methods for English, Math, and Science.
The training was developed in collaboration with Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle Philippines, The HEAD Foundation in Singapore and the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom.
Security Bank said it has trained 167 educators nationwide, complementing SBFI’s flagship “Build a School, Build a Nation” classroom donation program.
“Physical structures alone cannot improve education. True transformation lies in the hands of principals and teachers,” said Rafael Simpao Jr., chairman of SBFI.
