Seventeen’s Hoshi enters military enlistment

Seventeen member and main dancer Hoshi began his mandatory military service on Tuesday, Sept. 16, becoming the latest member of the K-pop group to enlist.

Ahead of his departure, Hoshi shared photos on Instagram of himself getting his head shaved by fellow member The8. He also reassured fans that he will back safely. The8 left a comment under the post reminding him to “stay healthy.”

On the same day, the 29-year-old singer also posted a heartfelt message on fan community app Weverse, telling Carats, Seventeen’s fandom, not to be sad about his enlistment.

“They say that the heart of those who stay behind is heavier than the heart of those leaving. I’ll bravely go and come back so don’t be too sad. When I come out on break, I’ll come as a cool soldier. Carats I love you and thank you so much,” he wrote.

Hoshi’s enlistment comes a day after fellow member Woozi entered the military on Monday, Sept. 15. Together, the two form Seventeen’s third subunit, HxW, which debuted in March with the single album “Beam.”

Currently, members Jeonghan and Wonwoo are also serving their military duties.
