The Filipino spirit cannot be negotiated away

“Sovereignty is non-negotiable, and the world must respect it”

WHAT is the worth of a nation if it cannot defend its own dignity? This is the question that defines our current struggle, reason why I stand in absolute solidarity with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s unequivocal declaration: Philippine sovereignty is non-negotiable.

To me, this isn’t just a political stance; it’s a fundamental truth. Sovereignty is not a bargaining chip to be traded away for temporary gain. It is the very lifeblood of our nation, and no other country, no matter how powerful, has the right to trample on it.

President Marcos is correct to say this is not a slogan; it is a declaration of the will of an entire people who refuse to be bullied.

Some might view this as an abstract issue, but I know it’s not. This is about the future of our children. It’s about the security of our seas and the food that sustains our families.

The moment we allow compromise, we lose not just territory, but our honor as a people. We must stand firm, and I believe that under President Marcos’s leadership, we are doing just that.

This fight requires all of us to stand together. Our fishermen face harassment at sea every day. Our soldiers risk their lives to guard our waters. Our leaders shoulder the immense weight of international pressure.

The very least we can do is stand with them. Division only makes us weaker. It is only in unity that we find strength. True sovereignty is everyone’s duty, not just a few.

If you need proof of why this fight matters, look no farther than the award-winning documentary, Food Delivery: Fresh from the West Philippine Sea. This film exposes a truth that some would rather keep hidden. It shows the faces of our fishermen, the struggles of their families, and the incredible courage of a people who refuse to bow down. You cannot watch it and remain indifferent.

The story doesn’t end there. A new film is in the works, produced by the Blessed Movement, which goes even deeper into the daily trials faced by our heroes in the West Philippine Sea.

It promises to show the violence committed by foreign aggressors and to clearly articulate our rights under international law. This film will open the eyes of every Filipino to the full truth of our struggle and our historic victory through UNCLOS.

The Filipino spirit cannot be negotiated away. Our seas are ours by law, by history, and by sacrifice.

With President Marcos leading and a united people behind him, we will never yield, we will never falter, and we will never be silenced. Sovereignty is non-negotiable, and the world must respect it.
