The camp of former Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr. on Friday confirmed that the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 12 has granted him bail in his murder case.
“We have confirmed the authenticity of the said order granting bail to former congressman Teves in the RTC Branch 12 case for murder… Bail recommended: 120,000 pesos,” legal counsel Ferdinand Topacio said.
The lawyer clarified that they still have pending bail petitions in his client’s two other cases.
Aside from murder, Teves is also facing charges including illegal possession of firearms and explosives, as well as cases in violation of the Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act, among others.
Topacio claimed, however, that this is a manifestation that the cases against Teves are weak and politically motivated.
