Representatives from energy regulators and top private sector power companies will discuss challenges facing the country’s power sector at a forum on Sept. 11.
The event, hosted by the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP), is themed “State of Philippine Energy: Balancing the Energy Trilemma.” It will focus on balancing three key goals: energy security, affordability and environmental sustainability.
Department of Energy Undersecretary Mylene Capongcol will speak on policies to attract investment and the need to develop more infrastructure.
Energy Regulatory Commission chairman Francis Saturnino Juan will discuss the agency’s role in protecting consumers and promoting a competitive energy market.
Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Francis Lim will give an opening message on efforts to boost energy investments.
Panelists will include representatives from First Gen Corp., Aboitiz Power Corp. and San Miguel Corp.
The forum is sponsored by Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc. (silver), along with bronze sponsors PetroEnergy Resources Corp., PetroGreen Energy Corp., Manila Electric Co., Citicore Renewable Energy Corp., BDO Unibank Inc. and Semirara Mining and Power Corp.
More than 100 journalists, private sector representatives and government officials are expected to attend.
