Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has announced that the revered Civic Type R is nearing the end of its official run in the country, marking a final opportunity for enthusiasts to acquire the ever-sought-after track and street weapon. This conclusion of an era is being celebrated by HCPI as a tribute to the car’s legacy and its impact on the local motoring community.
Since its first official introduction with the fifth-generation FK8 in 2017, the Civic Type R has become a symbol of Honda’s engineering prowess. The initial batch of 100 units for the Philippine market sold out within 48 hours of its availability announcement. The model received a refresh in 2021, which included the addition of Honda SENSING technology, improved brakes, and new color options. This was followed by the launch of the sixth-generation FL5 in January 2023.
The Civic Type R has cultivated a dedicated community of fans who appreciate its exhilarating power, precise handling, and distinctive design. From the legendary EK9 to the latest FL5, each generation has set new benchmarks for what a front-wheel-drive performance car can achieve.
As HCPI prepares for new models and innovations, the company views this as a celebration rather than a farewell. HCPI President Ms. Rie Miyake expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic reception the Civic Type R has received over the past eight years, stating that its legacy will continue to inspire the brand’s future models.
The final units of the 2025 Year Model Civic Type R are now available at Honda Cars dealerships nationwide, offering a last chance for customers to own a piece of this iconic car’s enduring legacy in the Philippines – and even around the world.
