OET lowers test fees to help more Filipinos build careers abroad

Working abroad has long been a dream for countless Filipino families. And for many, it entails making numerous sacrifices in the hope of a brighter future. It means children in good schools, parents finally enjoying retirement, and a home that stands as a testament to all their hard work.

For healthcare workers, that dream takes shape after long hours and determination, with the hope that their skills can take them beyond borders. But before it becomes reality, one big hurdle remains: proving English proficiency.

It isn’t usually about the language; it’s more about showing the compassion and clarity they bring to patient care every day.

That’s where the OET Test makes all the difference. It has lowered its fee to AUD$360 for the same trusted test for those pursuing global opportunities. Unlike general English exams, OET was created with healthcare in mind.

“The OET Test is about preparing Filipino healthcare workers for real-world practice overseas. We understand what’s at stake for every candidate — the chance to uplift their families, pursue their calling, and thrive on a global stage,” said OET CEO Jaime Cortes.

Regulators and employers accept OET in major destinations, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. In the US, it’s officially recognized for nursing licensure in Florida, Texas, New York, Illinois, and New Jersey.

The test also builds confidence for clinical exams like NCLEX and OSCE — so candidates feel prepared not just for licensing, but also for their very first shift.

One example is nurse Amir Macalunas, who found the OET Test to be a turning point in his career. With more than a decade of experience, starting from rural outreach in the Philippines to 10 years in Saudi Arabia, Amir passed the test on his very first try after six weeks of focused prep.

“I joined a one-on-one coaching program that really helped me in reading and speaking. They corrected my mistakes and guided me every step of the way. With hard work and dedication, passing the OET Test is possible,” Macalunas said.

Amir is now waiting for his H-1B visa approval, the last step before he starts his new life in the US.

To make the journey smoother, OET also offers free and low-cost preparation tools, including online courses, study guides, speaking guides, on-demand lessons, and sample tests.
